BETH BOHN
Editor
As editor of media relations, my job is to ensure we provide media -- and the public -- with well-written, accurate and engaging information about K-State for use in reporting on or learning about the university.
I edit news releases written by media relations' campus news coordinator and student writers, as well as news releases submitted to our office by other on-campus communicators, departments and units. As part of my job, I supervise the campus news coordinator and student writers, including assigning them news releases. I coordinate their efforts to contact each academic department and key university services to ensure we are collecting and disseminating timely news about K-State.
In addition, I assist media with their requests for K-State experts and information, and pitch them story ideas about the university. I also advise and assist faculty, staff and students with their requests for publicity, which includes preparing news releases, contacting media and arranging for special events such as news conferences. I coordinate publicity, including writing news releases and arranging for media availabilities and news conferences, for K-State's Landon Lecture Series.
A K-State graduate, I earned a bachelor's in radio-TV and membership to Phi Beta Kappa. My professional experience includes working at radio stations in Kansas and Nebraska for six years as a news reporter and director. I also worked as a reporter and news editor at daily newspapers in Kansas and Nebraska for 10 years. I have been honored by the Associated Press of Nebraska for newspaper design, and by the National and Nebraska Press Women associations for headline writing.
