KRISTIN HODGES
Assistant research news and features coordinator

 

I provide media with stories on interesting and newsworthy research being conducted on campus to publicize the university's broad efforts and expertise.

I collaborate with Erinn Barcomb-Peterson for research stories. Recently I have been focusing on writing about undergraduate research, though I also write about faculty research. When our news releases are sent out to media -- both print and electronic -- I put my stories on our K-State News Insider blog and on Twitter, which has appealed to individuals and to nontraditional journalists like bloggers. I take photos of the researchers and their work and do video of some stories for the K-State YouTube EDU Channel.

To increase exposure for our campus experts, I help monitor media requests for story sources by suggesting K-State researchers. These requests come from a wide range of local, regional and national outlets for print, broadcast and Web-based media.

I am a recent K-State graduate in print journalism and have completed internships where I practiced several different forms of media, including newspapers, magazines, online and television.
