HIGH SCHOOL BANDS FROM ACROSS THE STATE TO PERFORM AT K-STATE BAND DAY: On Saturday Sept. 15, the Kansas State University "Pride of Wildcatland" Marching Band will host its annual Band Day, where more than 30 Kansas high school bands will get a taste of what it's like to be part of a university marching band.

FIVE K-STATE STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS FROM AMERICAN HUMANICS: Outstanding academic performance, demonstrated leadership and a commitment to careers in the nonprofit sector have earned five Kansas State University students awards from American Humanics.

'KOMEN ON THE GO' COMING TO K-STATE: Kansas State University's Lafene Health Center, Terry C. "K-State Celebrates" will start at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Hyatt Regency, 400 W. Waterman, in downtown Wichita. Registration starts at 6:45 p.m.

K-STATE'S APLEY AMONG MOST INFLUENTIAL VETERINARIANS IN CATTLE FEEDING INDUSTRY: Veterinarian Dr. Mike Apley has devoted his career to animal health. The Kansas State University professor's efforts were recognized recently when he was spotlighted as one of the six most influential veterinarians in the cattle feeding industry in the past 35 years.

EXPERT ON EMERGING INFECTIOUS ZOONOTIC DISEASES JOINING K-STATE AS A REGENTS DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR: Juergen Richt, lead scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Animal Disease Center and an adjunct professor at Iowa State University, will be joining Kansas State University as a Regents Distinguished Professor.

K-STATE PROFESSORS STUDYING REMOTE BRIDGE MONITORING: A team of civil engineering professors at Kansas State University is developing technology to monitor the health of bridges in rural Kansas.

WORK BEGINS ON K-STATE'S PARKING GARAGE: Work has begun on the new parking garage south of the union, with the removal of the hourly meters this week. The demolition contractor will begin Monday, Aug. 6, according to Gary Leitnaker, assistant vice president for human resources. He said Murray and Sons, Inc., of Topeka is the main contractor.
