Fast answers to common questions
1. What kind of campus security does K-State have?
K-State campus police have many duties and services for students. They investigate all crimes on university-owned property, fraternities, and sororities, and they handle all traffic accidents on campus.
K-State police are available on campus 24 hours a day. Officers patrol campus in cars, on bicycles, or on foot.
The K-State police department offers a safety escort called Wildcat Walk to students walking alone between dusk and dawn. The escorts walk students to another destination on-campus or up to two blocks off-campus. If a student is not walking with an escort, there are emergency call buttons located on campus.

2. What do students do if they have problems with their computers?
Your student may be part of the Y2K generation, but that doesn’t mean he or she is technologically infallible. If students need help with their computers, they can take them to the IT help desk located in Hale Library.
Students can also debug their computers and get free antivirus software at the help desk. If students live in the residence halls, they can call or stop by the residence hall networking office for help.
Don’t worry if your student has to get his or her computer worked on. K-State has many open computer labs—which are open late—in the library, the residence halls, and the Union. Several are available 24 hours a day.

K-State hosts numerous career, internship, and co-op fairs throughout the year. The biggest event, the All-University Career Fair, takes place in the fall and brings around 250 employers to K-State.
Look for career and internship fairs in your student’s major
If your student has chosen a major, but isn’t really sure what to do with that degree, the Academic and Career Information Center can help. ACIC offers resources to find out the range of jobs that might fit with each major. For example, a student majoring in speech can work as a lobbyist, and a student majoring in geography can work as an environmental analyst.

4. Where can my student park on campus?
Students buy their parking passes from Parking Services at the beginning of every school year. If students live in the residence halls, they will have designated parking in “R” lots near the residence halls and dining facilities. If students live off-campus, they will have designated parking in “O” lots.
